Business owners will often search for their own advert on Google to see if they can find it. Here’s why we recommend against that…
It is a natural thing to want to see your business ranking highly on this search engine, and sometimes curiosity can get the better of you.
However, we at Infoserve recommend that you not search for your own advert on Google. Every time you see your ads, Google will score this as an ‘impression’.
If you search for your own business but do not click on the advert, this will reduce your ‘click through rate’ (CTR). Of course, you shouldn’t click on your own advert anyway because this costs you money, so it’s better not to search for it in the first place!
Every time your CTR is lowered, your ‘quality score’ is also lowered.
Quality score is what Google uses to rank how ‘relevant’ your website is to your adverts. Google wants to show the highest quality adverts with the most relevant websites, as high up the page as possible.
So, if your quality score decreases because you’re seeing your advert and not clicking on it, your advert will show in a lower position on the page. Not only that but the lower the quality score, the higher the cost-per-click.
We regularly optimise your campaign to achieve the lowest cost-per-click possible, giving you a higher return on investment.
This is why it’s important not to search for your own adverts on Google!
