Why don't I get 56k connections when I dial hosts who are not ISPs?

You can only achieve connect speeds higher than 33600 bps when calling an Internet Service Provider (ISP) which supports the same 56k standard as your modem (either V.90 or k56flex).

If you call an Internet service provider that does not support either V.90 or k56flex, you will only obtain connect speeds up to a maximum of 33600 bps.
