Why do I see this message 'The modem file requested 115200 bps, which the serial hardware could not supply. Now using 57600 bps. (-6028)' when I attempt to dial my ISP on my Macintosh computer?

FAQ170

This error message occurs when the modem script requests the serial port on the computer to be configured to a particular speed but the hardware is unable to perform the request.
Normally this message disappears very quickly, if not there may be underlying hardware problems that need to be resolved.

This may require the reinstallation of some Operating System components or in extreme cases, you may have to have your Mac serviced.
