Why am I unable to receive data calls on my Pace 56 Solo Modem whilst PhoneTools is running?

To be able to receive a data call you need to ensure that PhoneTools is open at the time of receiving the call.
If you have PhoneTools running correctly, check that you have following set correctly in the General Configuration, Communications option of PhoneTools.

In the reception section of the configuration screen, make sure
Receive is active is checked
Mode is set to Auto voice/Fax/Data
Speed is set to V34 /28.8 - 22.6 kbps
Protocol is set to Zmodem
With the PhoneTools software set in this manner, it will detect the type of incoming call automatically.
