| You need to download a file to open on your Mac which will allow you to upgrade your modem to the V.90 standard. There is a choice of upgraders. You should download the one for your particular modem. The Pace 56 Voice Mac and Pace NB 56 Mac upgrade uses Microphone LT, the data communications package supplied with your modem, to perform the upgrade. The tables on the right show the improvements that the current version provides over the earlier versions. Check the current version of code in your modem by looking at the response to the ATI4 command. (Use MicroPhone LT, or FotoMac Terminal, to open a connection to your modem and look at the response when you type ATI4 and press 'return'). Choose your modem:(name: "mac56solo.hqx") (name: "mac56ext.hqx") (name: "mac56nb.hqx") IMPORTANT: If a Save As... dialog box opens, select a location on your Mac to save the file. The Desktop is a good choice! | What do I do when I have downloaded this file? |
The upgrader will check the type of ISP that was called most recently. If that ISP supports the V.90 standard then the upgrader will recommend upgrading your modem to V.90. However, should your ISP not be using the V.90 standard then the wizard will recommend leaving the modem as K56flex. You can run the upgrader periodically to check if your ISP has upgraded to V.90.
